Today's Sky, Without a Birth Time
Leave the time blank if you only want the sky for today, or if the birth time is unknown. Planet-to-planet contacts still show. Houses and the Ascendant stay provisional until the time is real.
What the transit chart shows
Your natal chart is fixed. Transits are the planets moving across it. When transiting Saturn squares your natal Sun, the pressure is on identity and responsibility. When transiting Jupiter trines your natal Venus, the opening is in relationships, money, or pleasure — the topics Venus already rules in your chart.
A single transit is a weather report, not a verdict. Read the slow planets first, then check whether a faster planet is triggering the same natal point this week.
How to Read Transits to Your Birth Chart in 4 Steps
1. Start With the Slow Planets
Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto set the theme. Their transits last months to years, not weeks. Jupiter is the bridge: about a year in one sign, long enough to change a topic and short enough to date.
2. Find the House It Lands In
The house tells you where it shows up: work, home, a relationship, money, health. House placement needs a real birth time. Without one, stay with the planet and the sign.
3. Check Whether a Fast Planet Is Triggering the Same Point
A slow transit can sit on a natal planet for months before anything feels specific. The Moon or Mars hitting the same degree is often the day it actually starts.
4. Note the Exact Dates and the Orb
Applying tightens, exact peaks, separating fades. Write down the three dates. A wide orb is the approach. The exact day is the peak. After that, the theme is leaving.

This week
The Moon and the faster planets. Mood, errands, short conversations. Useful, and gone quickly.
Daily forecastThis season
Mars and the inner planets changing signs. Projects start, stall, or need a direct conversation.
Monthly forecastThis year
Jupiter and Saturn crossing natal planets. The topics that actually change a year: work, home, a commitment, a risk.
Yearly forecastWhat to open next
- Birth chart — the natal positions transits are hitting.
- Synastry chart — how another person hits the same chart, instead of the current sky.
- Composite chart — the relationship as its own midpoint chart.
- Birth chart without a birth time — which transit hits you can still trust.
Transits by Planet
Each planet transiting your natal chart has its own clock. These are the ten to separate before you read a mixed forecast.
- Pluto — years. A life area is rebuilt, not rearranged for a weekend.
- Neptune — years. The topic softens, idealizes, or loses a clear edge.
- Uranus — years. The break is sudden relative to the long approach that preceded it.
- Saturn — about two and a half years in a sign. Responsibility, a limit, or a structure that has to hold.
- Jupiter — about a year in a sign. Expansion in one house, not in every part of life.
- Mars — weeks to a couple of months. Action, conflict, or the push that starts a slower transit.
- Venus — days to weeks. Affection, money, and taste. A mood of the month, not a fate.
- Mercury — days, longer when it stations. Conversation, contracts, travel, and the days plans change.
- Sun — about a month in a sign. The topic of the season you are consciously in.
- Moon — about two and a half days in a sign. The trigger, not the story.
Transits by House (1st – 12th)
The house is where a transit shows up. It is usable only when the birth time is documented.
- 1st — body, manner, the way you start things.
- 2nd — money, skills, what you keep.
- 3rd — messages, siblings, short trips, the daily mind.
- 4th — home, family, the private base.
- 5th — children, romance, creative work, risk you enjoy.
- 6th — work routine, health habits, what you maintain.
- 7th — partners, clients, open agreements.
- 8th — shared money, debt, intimacy, what is not only yours.
- 9th — study, belief, long travel, the story you tell about the future.
- 10th — career, reputation, the public role.
- 11th — friends, groups, the audience.
- 12th — rest, endings, what works out of view.
Common Transit Questions
Jupiter transit to the natal chart
Jupiter spends about a year in a sign. The house it crosses is the area that gets more room. It does not improve every placement at once.
Saturn return
Saturn returns to its natal sign near ages 29 and 58. It is a structure check: which commitments can carry the next cycle, and which were borrowed.
Mercury retrograde transit
Mercury retrograde is a few weeks, three times a year, when Mercury appears to move backward. Treat contracts, travel, and messages as a review window, not as a year-long theme.
How long does a transit last?
Match the planet to the clock in the list above. The Moon is days. Saturn is years. The method is in step 4: applying, exact, separating.
When does this transit end?
It ends as it separates past the orb, not when the feeling peaks. A fast planet leaves in days. A slow planet can still be in the same sign after the exact hit. Pair this page with the yearly forecast when you need the longer dates.
Transit chart questions
What is a transit chart?
A transit chart compares the planets in the sky right now with the planets in your birth chart. The contacts — conjunctions, squares, trines, oppositions — show which parts of the natal chart are being activated.
How is a transit different from a yearly forecast?
The transit chart is the sky against your natal chart for a chosen moment. A yearly forecast is the longer reading of that motion across a year: which transits last, and which life topics they touch. Use the chart for the map, and the yearly forecast for the timeline.
Which transits matter most?
Slower planets make the longer stories: Jupiter (about a year in a sign), Saturn (about two and a half years), and Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto (years). The Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars move quickly and describe shorter weeks. Start with Saturn and Jupiter contacts to the Sun, Moon, and angles.
Can I run transits without a birth time?
Planet-to-planet transits still show up. Transits to the Ascendant, Midheaven, and house topics need a reliable birth time. If the time is unknown, treat angles and houses as provisional.
